Home-made Hummus
Hummus is one of the first things I started to make from scratch in my whole food kitchen, so easy, cheaper and better for you than store bought hummus that contains preservatives and oils that are good for us.
Here is the recipe I’ve been making for many years now - my go to for adding to a dinner or lunch meal for extra protein or a snack with crackers or carrot sticks 🥕
Ingredients
1 can chickpeas
1/4 cup aquafaba (brine from the can) or water
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp Himalayan or sea salt
2 tbsp tahini or almond butter (or a mix)
1 clove garlic
Optional
5 drops lemon oil
2 drops black pepper
1 tablespoon basil pesto
Leftover cooked kumara or pumpkin
Method
Blend until smooth, refrigerate & enjoy!
