What is Integrative Health, and what can it do for me?

Integrative health is a whole-person approach that looks at the root causes of imbalance & dis-ease by focusing on physical health, emotional wellbeing and daily habits that all play a role—not just treating symptoms.

As an Integrative Health Practitioner, I help clients to create personalised, evidence-informed plans that support lasting health, balance, and well-being.

We use the De-Stress model - diet, exercise, stress reduction, toxin removal, rest & nervous system regulation, emotional balance, supplement protocols & success mindset.

Through functional medicine lab testing we can begin to truly look at whats going on in your body, a real ‘bio-individualised’ approach. Our saying ‘test, don’t guess’ plays a big part in really uncovering imbalances in the body that can lead to dis-ease of the body.

Whether you want help with diet, weight loss, gut health, supplements, hormone support, detox, pain & inflammation, immunity, or auto immune dis-eases, I can help you regain the balance needed in your body to truly heal.

Our 7 Integrative Disciplines

Integrative health seamlessly blends functional medicine with other critical disciplines to create a comprehensive approach to wellness. Comparatively, this method ensures that we actively consider every aspect of a person's well-being. Additionally, as an IHP we integrate 7 key disciplines which we weave throughout Dr. Cabral’s DESTRESS Protocol™:

  1. Ayurvedic Medicine: An ancient Indian practice that balances doshas to harmonize physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through personalized approaches.

  2. Bioregulatory Medicine: A holistic approach that emphasizes bioindividuality, supporting each person's unique self-regulation and healing processes through detoxification and reducing inflammation.

  3. Traditional Chinese Medicine: An ancient practice that balances the body’s energy (Qi) and harmonizes Yin and Yang to support overall health and vitality.

  4. Traditional Naturopathy: A holistic approach to health that emphasizes natural remedies and the body's inherent ability to heal itself.

  5. Eastern Philosophy: Philosophical traditions from Asia emphasizing harmony, balance, and the interconnectedness of all things.

  6. Orthomolecular Medicine: Uses optimal doses of vitamins and nutrients to prevent and correct health imbalances.

  7. Functional Medicine: A client-centered approach addressing root causes to health challenges through a comprehensive understanding of body systems and interactions.

By integrating these disciplines, you’re not limited to a single approach. Most important, Im equipped with tools to help achieve optimal, holistic health.

The Rain Barrel Effect

The Rain Barrel Effect is a metaphor by my teacher and mentor Dr. Stephen Cabral to explain how chronic health issues develop over time.

Your body acts like a rain barrel that collects rainwater from a roof gutter…

•  Everyday “rain” = accumulated toxins and stressors, including environmental chemicals (e.g., pollutants, plastics, pesticides), man-made toxins, internal sources (e.g., candida, bacteria, parasites, stress hormones, metabolic byproducts), poor diet, inflammation, and lifestyle factors.

•  The body naturally filters and detoxifies these via the liver, nutrients, energy, rest, and balanced systems—keeping things in equilibrium for years without obvious problems.

•  As toxins build up gradually (your “total toxic load” or “toxic burden”), reserves deplete, but symptoms often stay hidden—the barrel keeps filling without overflowing.

Symptoms only appear when the barrel is full and overflows “spilling over the sides”

•  The body can no longer compensate or hide the overload.

•  This leads to outward issues: fatigue, pain, weight gain (or difficulty losing weight), skin problems, loss of vitality, inflammation, high blood pressure/cholesterol, allergies, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or even serious diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s).

•  Noticeable external symptoms signal the barrel has no reserves left—it’s at full capacity, and demands exceed what the body can handle.

Illness usually isn’t caused by one big thing—it’s more like your body’s “cup” slowly filling up until it spills over and symptoms show up. To feel better, it’s all about “emptying the cup” by easing the load—think gentle detox support, nourishing food, stress-busting habits, gut-friendly tweaks, and lifestyle tweaks that give your body a breather.

This approach, rooted in functional medicine, looks at the real “why” behind health issues, blending time-tested wisdom from traditions like Ayurveda with modern testing and science-backed protocols.

Your body is designed to self-heal, and your job is to support that process.
